At the invitation of the Conservatoire National de Véhicules Historiques, Minister for Equality and Diversity Yuriko Backes officially launched the program and unveiled the new "Égalité sur Roues" display in Diekirch on March 6, 2026.

The ceremony took place in the presence of numerous guests, including the current and outgoing Turkish ambassadors to Luxembourg, representatives of the city of Diekirch, representatives of the Automobile Club du Luxembourg, and numerous other invited guests from the worlds of politics, culture, and motoring.

At the start of the event, Tom Sauber, initiator of the program and vice president of the CNVH, welcomed those present. In his speech, he discussed the history of Égalité sur Roues and emphasized that, despite the progress made, there is still much work to be done. Women still have to contend with traditional and often deeply rooted stereotypes in the automotive world. The aim of the program is therefore to highlight historical achievements while opening up new perspectives for the future.

Minister Yuriko Backes congratulated the CNVH and all those involved several times on this initiative and on the work already accomplished. She particularly emphasized the apt name of the program: "Égalité sur Roues" is a title that expresses the concern in a very concise manner. The minister also pledged her continued support for the program.

Afterwards, Minister Yuriko Backes, Miriam Eisenmenger, Director of the ACL, and Tom Sauber jointly unveiled the new display case. Designed by artist Pelin Agin, it is a work of art in its own right and will be an integral part of the exhibition at the CNVH for the next five years.

CNVH historian Nadia Klasen then introduced the five women whose stories and achievements are the focus of the display case.

Visitors will have the opportunity to discover the installation at the CNVH over the next three weeks. In addition to the display case, a Ford RS200 by Jenny Van Hilten and an accompanying photo exhibition by artist Pelin Agin will also be on display.

The CNVH is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The museum is closed on Mondays.
