“Culture Without Age – at the Diekirch Automobile Museum” – an initiative of the Conservatoire National de Véhicules Historiques, commonly known as the “Diekirch Automobile Museum.” From July 1 through September 30, 2026, the Diekirch Automobile Museum will open its doors to senior centers, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities from across Luxembourg, inviting them to enjoy a free visit to the museum.

The goal of this CNVH initiative is to make it easier for older adults to access culture and history while also fostering connections, memories, and social interaction. As young people, today’s seniors once witnessed the development of the automobile, road traffic, and societal change. For them, historic vehicles are far more than just beautiful exhibits to look at. They evoke memories of times long past, of stories and anecdotes from their own lives.

For interested senior living facilities, nursing homes, and “assisted living” facilities, “Kultur ouni Alter” means:

• free admission to the museum,

• a free guided tour,

• A cultural experience tailored specifically to seniors.

The guided tours are led by historian Nadia Klasen in German, Luxembourgish, French, or English and are tailored to the needs of each visitor group.

During the visit, participants will not only explore the current special exhibition, “British Sports Cars in Luxembourg,” but also discover other fascinating chapters in Luxembourg’s automotive history. These include, among other things, the story of the legendary Luxembourgish race car driver Nicolas Koob, the historic Wagner company, and the original vehicle used by the Grand Ducal family to flee during World War II.

The “Kultur ouni Alter” initiative stems from an idea by CNVH President Tom Sauber and was enthusiastically embraced and supported by the board. It is based on the belief that culture can bring people of all ages together and that older generations, in particular, deserve an important place in our country’s cultural life.

The “Conservatoire National de Véhicules Historiques” welcomes approximately 8,000 visitors each year and is now one of the most important institutions dedicated to preserving and promoting Luxembourg’s automotive cultural heritage. With “Kultur ouni Alter,” the museum aims to set an example for intergenerational culture, appreciation of history, and social cohesion.
